This authentic antique victorian chatelaine handkerchief/skirt clip appears to be made of solid Brass, and appears to have a thin coat of protective lacquer finish. It is non-magnetic. It is suspended on a woven box style Brass chain from a brass finger ring. All components of this antique etched Brass Victorian chatelaine are original. The brass clip is beautifully etched in a decorative floral motif on both the top and bottom, and along the front (as seen in PICs). "This type of chatelaine was clipped onto a segment of the lower portion of a large victorian skirt, and the finger ring slipped onto a finger, it's purpose being to elegantly glide a lady through the streets while allowing her to keep her skirt from dragging on the ground." This can also be used for a heavier weighted ladies handkerchief as the front of the clip has four (4) teeth to grasp fabric securely. Finger ring measures a size 8. The woven box style Brass chain is 3 and 1/2" in length. The Brass chatelaine handkerchief/skirt clip is 2 and 1/4" in length.
